The IRS reports that there are thousands of families in Tarrant County that are eligible to receive the Economic Stimulus Payment but haven’t yet filed their income tax return.  Please verify that your client has filed and received a check.

Back to School
If you haven’t already talked with your client about applying for free school clothing and supplies, now is the time!  Several agencies have programs during the summer to provide school supplies and uniforms for low-income families.  Please encourage your client to find out    which serve his/her area of town and apply early.

Hello Friends!

Communication is the essence of the Mentoring program.  It’s essential to developing a relationship of mutual respect with your client, it facilitates sharing your gifts and talents with another person, and it enables you to show that you care.  Through consistent communication among a Mentoring team, a family and the Family Pathfinders staff, we can all work toward the same goal of helping a family progress toward self-sufficiency.  Some teams copy me on email messages among team members or with clients.  I love that!  What an easy way to keep the staff informed of your activities and the challenges that may arise!

I hope you also communicate with your church or organization about your Mentoring activities and the successes your family is experiencing.  Others may want to support the team by offering professional services, information, job leads, donations of furniture, and other assistance that you haven’t even thought of yet.  Please allow them to share in your ministry.  One way you can do that is by assuring that the Mentoring program is listed as a ministry of your church on your web site and in your newsletter.  If you need blurbs or a logo, I’m happy to provide them.

The Back to School Roundup is an event to provide kids from low-income families in grades K through 4 free school supplies, backpacks, shoes and socks, immunizations and haircuts.  It will be held August 23 at the Will Rogers Coliseum.  Families can pre-register for the event from July 15 through August 15.  Check the web site www.backtoschoolroundup.org or call 2-1-1 for registration sites.  They expect to serve 10,000 Tarrant County children this year!

Wishing you many Blessings,
Peggy
